I found this otherwise healthy-looking California Carpenter Bee quite
dead in my garden today. I am troubled about what may have killed it and the feeling that there seems to be nothing I can do about it. A dead bee wouldn't have warranted much of my concern a few years ago, but these days you've just got to wonder. I love these bees. They are basically friendly and nice to look at. They can get pretty large. http://tinyurl.com/2wes2o ----------------- www.Newsgroup-Binaries.com - *Completion*Retention*Speed* Access your favorite newsgroups from home or on the road ----------------- |

I lost some baby ducks to that one time. Neighbors + rainstorm + Malathion... :-( -- Peace, Om Remove _ to validate e-mails. Bees have rather short life spans, so finding a dead one shouldn't be unusual. A honey bee lives 3 to 6 weeks, for example. HTH |

I hope it was old age, but the bee was just lying on its back amongst the flowers and looked so young and healthy and freshly dead. I was out in the yard a little while ago and saw two really big carpenter bees, a few honey bees, and a bunch of bumblebees looking very happy, so I am reassured that the sky isn't falling. ----------------- www.Newsgroup-Binaries.com - *Completion*Retention*Speed* Access your favorite newsgroups from home or on the road ----------------- |
