Anyone know what it is? It was in the hothouse but had no label.

Could it be a member of Justicia ? It is very pretty.
Cheers Wendy

Hello Mary...
Nice shot of a beautiful flower...
(Don't know what it is)
But I sure love the color.

I Googled on Justicia and saw many, very different plants.

One, Brazilian Plume Flower, Scientific Name: Jacobinia carnea (Lindl.) G.
Nicholson, Synonym: Justicia carnea, Family: Acanthaceae has a similar form
but a different colour. I'm puzzled :-)

But I have the name of the head gardener at the Castle so I might mail and
ask him, he was a very helpful chap.

Mary

It's doubtless a fine specimen of Jacobinia carnea .
bye.

Having looked at more pictures of this on Google I'd agree.

The one I saw, which is the wrong colour, was at

The colour of most of flower are subject to many many modifications: pH,
salts, temperature, brightness and moistness of environment without
forgetting chromosomal changes...
