Beautiful backlit subject, John.

your GGG grandfather)
Any tips for me, one who can only point & click.
Cheers Wendy

Thank you for you kind comments Wendy. I am not professional and I
have never done any formal study of the Art of Photography, so I'm
probably not qualified to dispense advice to anyone. But since you
asked;

I have to say that I think my first "rule" to follow is to try to keep
the composition "tight". Whether through original framing or
subsequent cropping, it is often true that Less is More. I think that
your own recent Hardenbergia shot is a good example of that. I think
that avoiding distracting backgrounds is probably the second "rule" I
would list. When you are looking at the main subject in the
viewfinder, it is often easy to overlook the fact that in the final
image that subject may be lost in the confusion of miscellaneous stuff
that is behind it.
Anyway, thanks again.
JD
