Here is part of a stand of half-ripe allium getting ready to open. I
don't remember what type these are. I planted these years ago, and
then forgot about them. I think that I have even cut them down once or
twice as weeds. In spite of my abuse, they look like they are going to
be nice this year.

This post is a reduced size full-frame image from the 50mm f1.4 at
2-stops down on f2.8. The second picture in this post is the same
image at a 100%-crop (full size) of the center flower to show off the
sharpness of the lens, though I think that the DOF may be off a bit.
No tubes or macro here, just 1:1 pixels of the first post. There was
some basic processing done during RAW conversion, but nothing radical
and no additional processing between the two pictures other than size
reduction on the full-frame.

Altogether, I think that this 50mm f1.4 is a great little lens for not
too much money. I also often use it when I need low-light capabilities
indoors, and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good
performing lens at this FL.

I do not want to pretend to be a know-it-all, however, so if you want
to read up on Canon lenses reviewed by a REAL expert, I think that the
best place to go is;

This guy is a working professional, he does comprehensive tests on all
Canon lenses and he is not afraid to tell you the bad along with the
good.
