Bird Farmers

We always have interesting stuff come up underneath the birdfeeder.
There are a lot of sunflower and corn (even the bagged "cracked corn"
will germinate) and some other very weird-looking things. The birds
are just as happy to pluck fresh seed from the dried flowers in the
fall as take it from the feeder, and the more they sow, the less I
have to buy.

Sunflowers are so beautiful, I can look at them for a long time without
being distracted.

But I've never been able to ripen the seeds on the plant - they go mouldy -
and if I take off the seedhead before they're ripe (i.e. out of the damp
weather) the seeds are no use to man nor beast.

:-(

Incredable. I am constantly spraying under the feeder and we added three
more this year!
Nice to know, something good comes from it..
