I just give thanks every day that I don't live in the cold.

I don't like the cold either but appreciate the changes of the season.
It gives reason for it all. The birds don't seem to mind and I love
seeing them flitting with their wings all aflutter. Also a good freeze
makes for fewer bad insects in the coming year.
I don't like to use insecticides and poisons.

Yes you are correct, there are reasons for the seasons & people adapt & are
climatized but
anything under 55dgs is just too cold it must be the S. African genes in me!
