Weed of the Week: Fireweed (Chamerion angustifolium)
 

It's called fireweed because of how fast it spreads - the seeds get
everywhere (I've even found one growing on my car) and the larger
species spread by underground stems to cover a large area, usually on
hard ground with not enough nitrogen for stinging nettles.

Quite a shot for a weed. Nice work. Makes me appreciate my second
floor deck with container gardening, mostly pots but some large
planters.

Thanks. Fireweed is often found in neglected containers, the ones that
