Weed of the Week: Field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis)
Even my tolerant friend T won't allow this pretty little climber to show
its 10p-sized flowers in her garden. She's been trying to get rid of it for years but its underground stems are slender and delicate: when you try to dig them up they break so bits are left behind to grow next year. If you try to poison it your shrubs die and the bindweed doesn't.
