Weed of the week: Michaelmas daisy (Symphiotrichum x salignum)
This week the commuters on trains into London can rest their eyes on the
soft purple shades of millions of Michaelmas daisies between the lines. The grimmer your urban graveyard, playground or car park, the more likely you are to find a few Michaelmas daisies there. Their ancestors were garden escapes of distant North American ancestry; chemicals may not shift them but a fork usually will.
