I've sent stuff to this group but can't see it here. Has anyone seen
this week's weed? Or my comment on Barbara's Alstroemeria?

Looks like a big candle dripped all over it...

A sharp shower of rain. It was an Open Garden - the owners let everyone
shelter in their conservatory and even entertained us with a box of "can
you guess what this is?" objects.

The flowers are Alstroemeria (your description of the habit of growth
was spot-on too) but seemed more like A. psittacina than A.
brasiliensis.

It happens that Mad Cow formulated :

Ah, thank you so much for that, indeed that is what it is.
Now I know, I will dig some of them up and put them in a better place
and look after them. :-) This is the first time they have flowered
since we've owned the land and I never really bothered to look after
them, I certainly will now. :-)
Thanks!

It sounds as if they're reasonably happy with what they've got so they
won't need much extra to give you a good show. I look forward to
pictures. Mine flower over quite a long period too.
