Ponytail Palm Blooming

Beaucarnea recurvata, or Nolina recurvata

Grown outdoors in so. Calif. is blooming.

Does the plant die at the end of the bloom cycle? what will happen?

There is a review of the genus in the Agavaceae Yahoo group files.

After flowering, the stem apex will branch.
