Red Thread Disease

HELP. Can anyone advise me how to get rid of Red Thread Disease in a lawn
that is two years old laid from turf?

I understand that there is a fungicide available, but my garden centre does
not know what to use.

Also, what can anyone recommend as a good lawn fertilizer to make the grass
a lush green colour as mine is now pretty grim thanks to Red Thread.

TIA

The best way to get rid of red thread is proper fertilization, mowing, and
irrigation of the turf. There are plenty of fungicides available that will
control and prevent it, but they will not cure it completley. You can use any
of the following:

Thiophanate-methyl- sold as clearys 3336, also as scotts lawn fungus control.

Mancozeb- cleary's protect or mancozeb flowable.

Propiconazole- also known as banner maxx. also sold as simply "garden
fungicide" by ferti-lome.

Again, chemicals are your last resort, and proer cultural practices are always
the best way to keep fungus away.

I didnt realize you were in the UK, Im not sure if they are available there or
not. If not, you can order them online. We have probably the most strict
regulations on pesticides here out of anyone, so if you can get them here, you
can probably find them there. They may be under different trade names, the
trick is to look for the active ingredtient.
