Brown lawn - Please help
I live in the NorthEast. My lawn is brown. The front receives sun most
of the day and the back yard is a mix of sun/shade. I have Rye and Kentucky blue grass. My lawn is mostly brown in the front (we had a severe winter in the NorthEast as most of you may know). Beneath the brown layer of grass, there is green shoots coming up. I tried to rake the a small portion of the yard manually, but it was painful. My neighbors lawn is green and looks beautiful. My questions to anyone who can help me or guide me through the process. - Should I power rake or manual rake the yard? If so, which method and should I rake the whole yard although there is no substantial leaves and twigs. - Is it a good idea to power rake the whole yard, although there is no observable thatch? - Will raking help me to get rid of the brown lawn and help the green upcoming lawn become more noticeable OR - should I leave the the brown lawn as is and wait for the green upcoming lawn to raise above the dead lawn? If so how long should I wait before I hit the panic button and call the lawn service company? Thanks in advance. Vandy. |
