Palmetto or Seville with no sprinklers
 

I live in northern Florida, which lately has been having regular droughts
from March through May. I have about 3/4 acre which will be sod but no cash
to put in sprinkler system. I would like to put in St. Augustine grass, and
have heard different arguments for either Seville or Palmetto. Most all the
area will be full sun. Any recommendations?

Palmetto and Seville are shade tolerant varieties of ST Augustine. Floratam
is full sun. Either way, St Augustine can't dry out, if so, it's dead. If
your determined to have St Augustine sod, pray we get rain this summer or
install irrigation. Bahia, on the other hand can go virtually dormant,
appear dead, and after one good rain looks as good as new. Good luck with
