GUIDE TO SURFING IN AUSTRALIA

Be Safe in the Surf

Australian beaches are magic - they're clean and big and free ... but
they can also be very dangerous. Here are some basic precautions to
help you enjoy your time at the beach:

Do:
· Swim on patrolled beaches, between the red and yellow flags
· Comply with the directions of lifesavers
· Watch children constantly when they're in the water
· Take plenty of fresh drinking water to the beach
· Protect yourself from the sun
· Remain calm; if you get into trouble in the water, don't panic.
Raise your arm for help, float and wait for assistance
· Float with a current or undertow. Stay calm. Signal for help and
wait for assistance.

Sea snakes get some bad press you know. Though undoubtedly dodgy, you
really have to get in one's face before it does the nasty.

Don't go to Sunnyside Nudist beach in Victoria as it is a gay pickup joint!

I read Shark Facts years ago after Jaws was released. A mother and her
daughter were walking a beach in Australia, sharks were beaching
themselves trying to reach them. They do this with seals as well, surf
a wave in, grab the seal and roll back out with the wave, seal in jaw.

Surfing in Australia....I don't think so.

Everything is dangerous in Australia. They got these real nasty
spiders, even nastier snakes and neither of them are as venomous as
their Sampras fans as evidenced here in rst.

That's behaviour some groups of killer whales have, orcas, those
adorable and majestic Free Willy beasts.
....I mean catching seals, not human.

P.S.

Killer Whale is really a killer, it kills seals, sharks, everything,
even whales of other species...Hence the name, whale killer...killer whale.

Here's some footage featuring the seal hunting method I referred to.
Taken from breathtaking BBC series Blue Planet(picture quality doesn't
do justice)

Somehow this reminds me of Nadal vs Federer at French Open...

Yes, they were just the marine nasties I mentioned earlier. I haven't even
started on the creatures to avoid on the way to the beach.

I believe it was a tiger shark going after people walking the beach,
they were in a frenzy.

They are extremely aggressive, right up there with the Great Whites.
The tiger shark is a killing/eating machine. The killer whales are a
little more evolved. They'll play a cat and mouse game with their
prey. There was a TV series called Trials of Life that showed the
nasty side of Orcas. The drag the seal out to sea and then play soccer
with it.

To marine life that might be true, but I've never heard of a human in the water
killed by a plastic bag.

Nearest thing we've got to a plastic bag in the UK is the model Jordan.
