how to test plum ripeness?
 

someone posted about soaking a type of fruit in water to see if they
are ripe(ripe ones sink) but ALL the plums i've been picking have
been
sinking. is this test fuit specific?

(though maybe the pits were too dense, de-pitted them, same results)

Professional growers use a brix meter... but for the home gardener how
difficult is it to taste.a few.

You "de-pitted" the plums and still tried to float them to see if they
were ripe?

Did you eat the ones you de-pitted? How were they? Ripe, or no?

Did you eat the ones you de-pitted? How were they? Ripe, or no?

well not heavenly(maybe a couple) but nothing mouth puckering :)
