Clivias and Zantedeschias together ?

Johannesburg, South Africa, he I have an east-facing, north-south
patch of garden containing flowering Clivias and Zantedeschia Aethiopica
(wrongly called Arum Lilies, but I won't get into that now). Z.A (to
save me typing Zantedeschia Aethiopica) flower in the same space as
Clivias, but the books/literature tell me Clivias prefer the dry soil at
base of trees in forests, while Z.A like their feet in water. Too much
water and Clivias' roots rot. So which is it? If I have flowering
Clivias and flowering Z.A. in the same soil, surely the soil type is the
determining factor as opposed to the quantity of water?

In the same patch of soil are Solanum Rantonetti (grown from seed),
Calliandra (also grown from seed) and a 2-metre tall Pelargonium grown
from a cutting. Also at home in that patch of garden is a Tecoma
Capensis (also grown from seed).
