Updates int he European Soil portal
 
Dear Colleagues,

During the last month, some new developments have been introduced in
the European Soil Portal. In order to further facilitate the awareness
of the Soil Portal, we send the latest updates that took place during
the last month. Find linked the November Newsletter. The Eusoils Web
portal published the following updates during the last period:

ESBN Plenary 2008 and Workshop on "Soil Framework Directive: A real
need to protect soil!" : The European Soil Bureau Network (ESBN)
Plenary session for 2008 was held in Paris (France) on 17 - 19
November 2008. During the last day, the 2008 Plenary session has
organised the Joint JRC - ESBN - INRA - French Presidency Workshop
"Soil Framework Directive: A real need to protect soil!". All the
presentations are listed and are available for download.


Open Vacancies : Call for Grant holders at the Institute for
Environment and Sustainability. Institute for Environment and
Sustainability publishes the following 5 PostDoc Positions and 1
Doctorate positions:
- Landslide hazard and risk assessment (SOIL Action)
- Assessing tradeoffs and trends in ecosystem services
- Innovative approaches to interoperability of geospatial data
- Probabilistic flash flood forecasting
- Climate change impact assessment on the hydrological cycle in
Europe
- doctoral Research on Interaction between climate policies and
terrestrial ecosystems

1: 250.000 Scale National Soil Databases : The European Soil Bureau
Network recommended and endorsed the preparation of a georeferenced
soil database for Europe at scale 1:250,000. The Suitability of the
1:250,000 Soil Database has been shown by a number of applications
which have already been made in different European countries. Find
examples of this application in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and
Italy .


9 New Publications in Journals during last months:
