Saw an ad on TV a little while ago... a lot of scare tactics about
without this you're going to starve... I don't respond well to scare
tactics. But they didn't offer a price on TV so I took a look-see...
anyone have comments?

An amazing mix of truth, half-truth, lies, propaganda, religion, politics,
wisdom, contradiction and nonsense. You could call it sales-speak.

For a "survivalist" the selection is odd. Too many are summer annuals, you
are going to get very hungry in the cooler months and there ought to be more
staples and things that will keep. Why on earth do you want cucumber and
two kinds of lettuce (low food value) but there is no pumpkin or potato
(high food value and keep outside the fridge)?

It is a lot of money to spend on seeds unless you know and trust the source.
The average gardener would take years to use all these. I thought they were
pushing these seeds being heirloom which implies true breeding, seed saving
etc, why then do you need a supply for five years, assuming they will last
that long?

If it were me I would save my $164, spend much less on a sensible quantities
of seeds that are more suitable and rely on Worldnet Daily for entertainment
while waiting for the rapture.

I would say with the rampant rise of the paranoid nutcases in this country
lately it only makes sense to market to them. I love the containers, you
can bury them so the Feds won't confiscate your seeds. Nice garden pics,
wonder where the machine gun nests and gun towers are.

Well, do I have an offer you fellows.

For those that get taken up in the Rapture. I Dan the atheist will take
very good care of any animals that get left behind that belong to you.
Just mail me a check for $2,000 US dollars and your home address
(optional) for this great offer of Pet Rapture Insurance :)

As for the 2012 theory no one is left behind to take advantage of :(

One side question:
Can't one freeze seeds that will last as long as the power holds up?

If so I will stock up on the seeds and ammo. Personal insurance when all
the currencies in the world collapse and gas will not be available.

They are very expensive based on prices that I can buy
heirloom/heritage/open pollinated seeds for in Australia.

I did a quickk count of the seeds they were selling and got 22 packs of
seeds - If I bought the same varieties in Oz, I'd pay just $58.75US from the
cheapest seed supplier for the same vegetables (but perhaps not the same
vaireties) but I'd have a wider range of choice.

Just in case you're interested, these are the major heritage seed suppliers
I can access:

BTW, did they mention that the 2 varieties of corn shouldn't be planted
close to each other?

I grew up at a time when the only food we had on the table
was that which we planted, weeded and harvested ourselves.
Dad had beef cattle so meat was a plenty.

The seeds scare is just that. What town doesn't offer
little plots to their citizens so that they "can grow their
own food and have enough to give to their neighbors"? But
that's mainly for people who finally figured it out it aint
a bad thing to get dirty hands now and then.

My frig this winter will be full of berries for just about
every pie you can think of except lemon. And seeds? The
only kind I buy are in bulk and I can mixed them with
something else and I get a nice crunchy snack.

Militia's in the past were protecting the right to bear
arms; I won't disagree with that. But now we must sow to
reap? I'm still reaping from that which was stolen from me;
and yes, that's a sentence that will not make sense unless
you wear size 8.5 and bought them on sale.

Just when I thought I'd heard of everything, survivalist
seeds makes its entrance.

And it's Dec 21, 2012 that the Maya's calender stops.
Doesn't say the world will end; just that is as far as their
calender goes.

You elitists just don't get it. Getting all wrapped up in technicalities

Remember, non-hybrid seeds can be grown practically anywhere and have
the ability to assimilate mineral and trace elements from the soil that
man made plants just don't seem to have. That's because they were
created by God as we read in Genesis:

And God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed,
and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to
its kind, on the earth."

Send me a check also, I will take good care of your fido when Jesus
returns. Also I can send you some nice heirloom seeds incase of economic
demise for a nominal cost. Good to profit of others fears or stupidity :)

Jeff sounds like a minister, if you want to be saved send him some money!

Yes, yes. Send money and I'll put in the good word. Your satisfaction
in heaven guaranteed. For a little extra, I can get you front row seats,
and for you power players, a photo of yourself with the big man himself.

Religion is the biggest scam in existence!

Unless Jeff is a sceptic and a cynic like me :)

Who, me?

Jeff

Oh, goody, a pair of heretics. I wonder who I can get to go to the
burning with me . . . hmmmmm?

A thunderstorm with lighting all around me is happening as I type this!

Saw an ad on TV a little while ago... a lot of scare tactics about
without this you're going to starve... I don't respond well to scare
tactics. But they didn't offer a price on TV so I took a look-see...
anyone have comments?

I didn't say it in my other post and should have, I would support anyone
growing these types of seeds as opposed to hybrids. I really don't
understand why people would bother to buy hydrids bu assume that they
haven't done sufficient research on yields, harvest and flavour.
