Can I grow a climber in a pot?

Got an unsightly bit of wall, faces nw so only gets bit of afternoon sun. There's patio up to it, so no soil, was thinking of putting up a trellis and growing a climber in a pot.
Is this a feasible plan? Which climber (if any) might be useful?

Yes but you will have to decide how to support the trellis. If the plant is
not too large the trellis can be in the pot and the whole lot is somewhat
portable. For a larger plant the trellis may have to go on the wall and so
the pot is tied there.

The ones that will grow in your climate in the position that you describe
that you like. Getting some sunlight is a good start so you may have some
choice.

Some climbers need a deep and/or shaded root run. Eg clematis. Avoid those. I tried growing one in a container once, and it was not happy, even though it was a large container (half barrel), and the barrel itself was mostly in the shade.

Apparently some people grow grapevines in containers - I have heard it recommended on GQT. Needs to be a big container though.

Not exactly a climber, but a fig tree is a wall shrub which will do well in a large container.
