how to take tamarisk cutting
 

hallo,

there are many tamarisks in the area so i think they must like the conditions. i would like to take a cutting of one.

questions
- a soft-wood or hardwood cutting?
- which time of year to do it in, now its end september, is this ok?
- can i stick it straight into soil where i want it to grow?
- will it grow fast: i need some privacy-cover

Those things are real problems in much of the US southwest. They take over
wherever they can find water. They are destroying the camping beaches in the
Grand Canyon.

Are you sure you want to be part of the problem?

-- most certainly - am on southern shore of lake balaton in hungary. land very flat water-table high so anything that can take up groundwater like my willow is a bonus! i have not seen very many around here and they certainly do not appear to be invasive. so yes, yes, i will be having a tamarisk. (i'd love to be able to afford to go see the grand canyon and see your problem for myself!)
