what to do with potted hyacinth?

i was given a potted hyacinth and wondered what to do with it after it
bloomed. i searched the archives a bit, and found the advice varied. most
seemed to suggest that hyacinth that were forced would likely not bloom
again. but i was wondering.... since this was given to me around the time
hyacinth bloom in this area (zone 7), is it still considered forced? i guess
the best bet is to plant it anyway, but i wondered if anyone had any
thoughts...

Go ahead and plant it outside, right now. Let the foliage die back
naturally. Next year it will send up foliage; it may or may not flower. In
subsequent years it should flower, although the flowerets on the spike will
be arranged more loosely than when it was forced.

Gardening is an adventure. Waiting and watching to see if it will flower
next year is more fun than knowing for sure.

Cheers,
Sue

Plant. Very good chance it'll grow naturally and bloom again. Not this
year, of course. 'Forced' bulbs aren't anything particularly unnatural
-- they're just grown, chilled (if necessary) in optimum conditions,
and shipped at the point they'll immediately spring(!) to life given
water and interior warmth.
