Default Chinese Elms - Can't get rid of it!

I have a Chinese Elm tree starting to grow in my yard. It's about 5' tall
I've been trying to get rid of it. It's very close to a chain link fence do
digging it up is a challenge. Is there an easy way to get rid of it?

No there isn't! The trailer park I live in has them all over the place and every
spring I have to clear out their seeds from my garden and pull up the odd ones
that do start growing. The manage has a small plot out by the driveaway that he
let one start up in there 3 years ago and alread the roots are so deep and
spread out that it's take a hit with a 10 megaton NUKE to get rid of it.

Hi,

I have one in my back yard too and I really hated it. It just grew too fast
and require lots of maintenace ... trimming. It's an ok tree until the
ladder doesn't even reach the top and you need to physically climb the tree
while holding a saw ... it's just a big mess.

I don't know whether you saw previous posting about killing tree. There was
a guy suggesting to cut the tree and put some kind of chemical on it to kill
the stump. However, the problem still exist ... you need to remove the
stump. It just too much trouble so I'm just going to leave the tree as is.
