Default Automatic Spinkler System feedback

I found a contractor that I trust to install an automatic sprinkler system for
my garden/lawn.
He is proposing Nelson 6000 / Nelson 5500 for the Large and Medium head
sprinklers (over Toro, Rainbird, and Hunter) and Toro 570 for the small head
sprinklers (over Hunter PS and Rainbird 1800). He will also install a bunch
of Fan sprays and use a Toro modular timer (he also mentioned Richdel and
Hunter but recommends the Toro).
He will install and maintain any of the big name sprinklers if I ask him.
Does anyone have any recommendations as far as equipment goes? This equipment
is for a cold weather climate (Vermont).

Thanks,
Blair

I can't answer about what type, but I will tell you to be careful when
installing equipment that ONLY the installer can buy. Sometimes they set it up
so you have to call them for repairs. Normally, with a little reading anyone
can maintain their own system, but not if you can't go buy parts at the plumbing
supply or box stores. Just a thought.

All brands mentioned are readily available to home owners. The on;y
caveat may be the fact that when you buy from Home Depot and their
competition you are often buying "home owner grade". I always
recommend homeowners contact a irrigation supplier in their community
and pose the question, and buy their supplies there. Just remember to
be patient, that other guy in line may be buying 10's of thousands of
dollars in parts to your 1 dollar nozzle.
