Will my gerbera daisy survive in the office?

I live in cubeville. In an attempt to brighten my day, I have
acquired a Gerbera Daisy. I don't want it to die. Will the flower
survive in an office environment? Tips? I'm not near any windows,
but I'm sure I could more the plan from time to time....

Warning - my extent of gardening, etc. is mowing.

Quck answer. No. Not enough light. Keep it outside in a sunny
location. Don't mow it. Although you may snip off the spent bloom to
encourage further flowering.

If that's what you want... There aren't many happily blooming plants
for office life. Or even low-light outdoor conditions. A Peace Lily
(spathiphyllum) will bloom in office light. African violets on the
windowsill bloom. Having lived with dim-ish indoor, and tree-shaded
outdoor conditions, I tell ya, you gotta have *sun* to make colorful
(and fruitful) plants survive and bloom. "Full sun" is a common
recommendation. This doesn't mean a bright window that gets a couple
of hours of direct sun a day. It means 6-8hrs per day of real,
genuine, unimpeded sunlight.

Go for it, Charles. After all, a dozen long-stemmed roses don't hold
up for long either. But they're lovely to have around while they do.
