Default Breck's offer

What is the story on Breck's now? I got an offer for 4 bleeding hearts for
$14.95. Sounds incredible. Makes me wonder what I'll get. Are they secure
for credit card orders? In the past if it said Breck's I had no qualms, but I
know this is no longer the same company. Anybody have recent experience?

www.gardenwatchdog.com
has many answers that you are looking for.

Personally, I never use them anymore since they switched owners.

four for $15 (probably plus postage also) is not a particularly good price for the
"old fashioned" bleeding heart. Given that Becks is basically a bottom feeder in
the spring bulb/plant market you can surely find a better deal.

Good grief. Buy local and supoort your local area merchants. You will
probably get a closer to real specimen as oppossed to mail order
(specimen nearer your area and hopefully hadn't been hybridized). If I
had all the mail order stuff I ordered up till 6 years ago (which I've
eradicated), I'd box it up and send send it to you freight, prepaid.

No that Brecks quite counts, but come autumn, if you want a choice of more
than the twenty bulbs binned locally, & if you want botanicals tulips
instead of commonplace cultivars, or virtually anything not just as common
as dandylions, you gotta mail order from the specialists. True, buy8ing
commonplace things like bleedinghearts mailorder is kinda dumb, & when the
tiny starts arrive, no great bargain as imagined either. But when I want
unusual shade plants I have to drive a hundred miles or further to visit
specialty growers, & when I want unusual autumn bulbs, I get locally what
turns up, but it's never a broad enough choice to meet my tastes & needs.

But speaking of bleedinghearts, a "Formosa" bleeding heart that was so
gorgeous last year, I'd been thinking of getting a couple more because
that one was so gorgeous & seemed to be in bloom for about six months, but
turns out I don't have to get more. About eight more of them have this
season popped up all over the shade garden! Some in the damnedest spots.
That plant self-seeds like a mother.

"Of what are you afraid, my child?" inquired the kindly teacher.
"Oh, sir! The flowers, they are wild," replied the timid creature.
