reel mower review

Just thought I would post my recent experience with a reel mower
purchase for this newsgroup audience. After researching the current
models, I bought a Brill Luxus 38 (purchased online via
peoplepoweredmachines.com ). I have a bermuda grass lawn, with a few
weeds here and there. I purchased the Brill mower a little late, as
my lawn had already grown a fair bit before its first mowing. I set
the mower at it highest cutting height (approx 1.8 inches), but found
that I had to mow over most of my lawn twice to get a good cut. Again,
this was my fault for waiting so long before cutting the lawn in the
first place. In general, though, you can't let your lawn grow too tall
between mowings with these reel mowers, otherwise it can be a bit more
of a workout.
Overall, this mower was easy to assemble and use. It's fairly light
(about 16 lbs) and relatively easy to push as long as the grass isn't
too tall. The mower worked well even on slopes and uneven ground.
My neighbors were quite a bit curious about this item, and it was
great to be able to carry on a conversation about it while I was
mowing! This mower is quiet and fun to use and very enviro friendly.
Look into getting it if you're not outsourcing your lawncare to
others!
