Default Mexican redbud

I have a mexican redbud. I live in New Jersey..Zone 6. The tree has yet to
bud. I planted the tree 2 years ago and it was very happy last year.
Scratching the bark with my fingernail shows it to be green underneath. Are
mexican redbuds late to bloom? Does my tree have a problem?

Here in Zone 7 the C. canadensis are in full glory or past peak. The C.
canadensis 'Texensis' are about the same, and the C. canadensis 'Mexicana'
are right at peak.

I do note that many internet sources specify the mexicana strain is hardy
only to Zone 7.
