strange fungus and bugs
 
I found a very strange, smelly, orange fungus(?) that was being
devoured by flies and beetles. It was a very odd sight - I'm
wondering if anyone knows what exactly this thing was, or what kind

I have seen those bugs in my garden as well, working and hiding in rotten
logs, but I don't know the name. The Fungus is the remnants of a Stinkhorn
Fungus, Phallus impudicus.
