I don't think snow itself will cause that problem because snow will
just melt off and never hurt a thing.
I beleive its a fungus. Ask your local nursrey

I initially said snow because that was the white stuff sitting on the
ground and the original poster never said where he might be.
Under certain conditions there are slime molds that look silvery gray
to white that envelope the grass causing little or no permanant damage.

It probably would have been helpful for you to include the entire description. When you posted the word "snow", I thought you were looking for the name snow mold. Yes, there are many molds and I could have given you pictures to look at. I had no idea this was for someone else.
