Any suggestions for a good weeding tool? I need to pull out dandilions
and other weeds on my lawn.
I have a long handled dandilion tool that I bought from Home Depot, but
it doesn't always work well.

I would prefer a tool which I can use from a standing position.
Thanks.
Bruce

Long snout propane torch.

200 gallon tank with a 400' electric hose reel works too. :)

At HD I found this gizmo with some kind of Dog something name that works
rather well for me for dandelions, thistles, etc. It is green, about 4 feet
long and had a circle of nail-like points at the bottom. One pushes it into
the ground around the week root, and the pushing action causes the nails to
constrict around the root. I then give it a twist and pull it out. The
twist is important to dislodge it - I usually do a full turn to be sure.
Once out, I push on the plunger at the top of the rig and the plug shoots
out as the nails reopen up. I have become pretty good at shooting it for
about 4-5 feet to where I want the bad old weed plug to wither away. I
bought it about 4 years ago maybe and I think it was less than 20 bucks US.
My lab el is all worn off so I really do now know the name of it but if you
ask at HS they will march you right to it. No bending and once you get the
hang of it it works pretty well in my experience.
Hope this helps,
Tomes

I have a antique tool that is made a lot like a post hole digger. It is
cast iron and you put it down around the weed and lean it over a little
and out comes the weed. They should make them again.

No matter what tool you use, be sure to water the area well. Really saturate
the ground because dandelions have long roots.
You do this, and pretty much any tool will work. Good Luck!

on a clear sunny day spray vinegar on the weeds .....very effective weed
killer.
Be careful not to get on ornamental flowers or plants or it will kill
them too.
