mower won't start

Sears Briggs and Stratton 6HP self-propelled died while running.
Brief history: Hit rock and replaced blade. Ran fine for a few hours but suddenly died. Check spark plug has spark, fuel is new and carburetor jets are cleaned and open and filter is clean. Put fuel directly into cylinder ... nothing. The engine has compression when I pull the starter cord. The blade rotates when I pull the cord (does this of itself indicate flywheel key is OK??). Any thoughts appreciated.

No. That's exactly what I suspect.
