Default How do you adjust ground drive belt tension on a Sears LT 1000?

Hello

I have a sears Lt 1000 lawn tractor that is about 3 years old. The
drive belt slips off the pulleys occasionally when shifting gears. This
just started recently. Also, it appeared that the transmission was
slipping but it was actually the belt - Belt dressing fixed things
temporarily.

I have a replacement belt to put on. However, I was wondering if there
were any adjustments that could, or should, be made to the belt
tension.

I noticed that if the clutch pully travels any further when the clutch
is let out, it will be up against a rod that runs along the frame. That
seems to mean that even if there is an adjustment I don't have much to
work with.

BTW I don't have any complaints about the belt life. I mow about 1 1/2
acres regularly, use the tractor for moving firewood and plow a 150'
driveway (Yeah I should get a garden tractor next time...

anwyay, I'd appreciate any info on the ground drive belt tensioning.

thanks

chris

Sounds like you have it pretty well covered. Belt stretched / wore - needs
to be replaced. I would guess the new one will not jump off. But there may
have been a "guard" somewhere near the drive pulley to prevent it from
jumping. Look like anything missing ?
