Default When to remove the straw?

My home was built last year and the yard was seeded in the fall. The
builder covered the lawn in straw. I now see some grass starting to
poke through in spots. When should the straw be removed? I am
assuming that it will not decompose in a short enough time for it to
provide any nutrients to the lawn. Please help me out I am new at
this one.

It won't decompose. It's only purpose is to hold the seeds in place until it
germinates. Once the grass has sprouted, you can rake it up.

It will decompose. If you see areas that seem too thick with straw
you can thin it out,but raking all of it up isn't needed.

BTW,the straw also helps to hold moisture in. By this time next year
it will be gone. Just keep on a good fertilizer program.
