Cause of lawn damage?

Location - Vancouver, BC where winter has been extremely mild, barely
freezing.
Lawn was created with new turf last year.

Today turf at edges around most of lawn has been dug up or rolled
back, sometimes as much as 6". Roots from turf had not grown down
into soil below at the edges, so this was probably not too hard to do.

Moles and shrews are prevalent in the neighbourhood but there is no
evidence of tunneling. Also in the neighbourhood are raccoons,
skunks, squirrels and rats. Yard is fairly secure so dogs unlikely to
get in.

Found one peanut under a piece of turf. Suspect some animal has been
looking for food.

Any suggestions as to likely cause, or remedy?

Sounds like skunks or racoons looking for grub worms.
