Is it just the moss turning black, or the grass too? Moss killer (ferrous
sulphate) will kill moss this way, and too much will do the same to grass, but
it has always come back for me.

I guess that depends on what chemicals they applied
and how much. Amazing how folks want answers without any info as to
the type of grass, whether it's the UK or
Florida, etc. Why did they put two treatments in
4 days? If my lawn was looking OK and had no specific
problems, I'd be looking for a new company. One reason
why I do this stuff myself.

Its probably just the moss turning black after the treatment. If a heavy dose is applied it can turn the grass tips a greyish black colour buts its unlikely to have done any major damage. Scarify the lawn to remove the dead moss, the grass tips that are off colour will be removed during the first couple of cuts and the lawn should look ok afterwards.

As an afterthought, if you are unable to scarify the black areas I found that painting them with green fence paint masks the problem quite well.
