We don't have any snow right now. What can we do for the lawn in winter?
This is in Toronto.

Not much really, just be sure it is cut short (1 1/2") This helps prevent
matting, and pink/gray snowmolds. Don't run the mower on frozen turf though.

Let it sleep,for now.

Oh..a soil test and some lime may help too.

Paint it green if you can't wait for spring, or white if you miss the snow.

Right now . . . nothing. Any thing you try to do while the grass is dormant
will kill or damage the good stuff and leave you with a yard full of weeds
and Johnson grass (that's that stuff you see growing along the highways when
you drive.

The hybrids - better quality 'lawn' grasses - can be rather temperamental
and are not as hardy as the wilder varieties. The lack of snow has little to
do with the grass' dormancy.

Best bet at this time of year is leave it be until the spring thaws.
