Your soil may be acidic. Put down lime (50 lbs per 1000 sg ft), if
your soil test reads acidic.

And ferrous sulphate moss killer.

I've had some good results by sprinkling my fireplace ash on the moss. It is
perhaps a quick way to reduce acidity.
