Help needed for moss massacre
 

Moved into new property with good sized garden treated with feed/weed/moss killer killed some moss waited 5 weeks and treated again, 60% of garden is moss. The moss is very dense in places and won't come up with a rake, but can be ripped up by hand, exposing a network of fine brown roots attached to the soil.I have tried aerating with spring loaded roller but barely reaches past mossbeds. Has anyone got any suggestions on the process of rebuilding a lawn?

I would test the ph of the lawn for starts. If the ph is low then adjust
it with lime untill you get a good 6.5 ph reading. As far as removing the
moss, I would suggest that you thatch the lawn with a thatcher
(power rake). Depending on your location, average amount of sun and rain,
choose a good seed for your location. Over seed the thatched lawn area and
lay fertilizer at the same time. Water and wait up to 21 days for the seed
to sprout. You may possibly want to areate in the fall.

To keep your moss away for good, you'll want to understand why it's there
in the first place and correct the problems. Is there too much shade for
grass to grow properly? Is the soil full of clay? Is the soil compacted or
the ph to low? Do you have a drainage issue?
