The Virgo Zodiac Sign is an astrological sign which is
associated with the constellation Virgo. It is found under
the tropical zodiac and is occupied by the sun from 23
August to 22 September each year. The opposite sign to Virgo
is Pisces.

It is the sixth sign of the Zodiac and is associated with
purity and service. Those individuals who are born under
this sign are thought to be diligent, analytical,
self-sufficient, controlled, orderly, modest and
intellectual. But they are also prone to being fussy, a
perfectionist, harsh with their criticism, can be cold
towards others and may be hypocondriacs.

In terms of the body, Virgo is supposed to rule the
abdominal region, both the large and small intestines as
well as the spleen, solar plexus (a complex network of
nerves to be found in the abdomen), the lower lobes of a
persons liver, the pancreas, portal veins, umbilicus, hands,
nails and finally carpal bones.

Traditionally the sign is thought to be ruled by the planet
Mecury, but during the late 19th Century and early 20th
Century it was speculated that the planet Vulcan (which is
thought to be located near Mercury) is in fact its true
planetary ruler. Currently the vast majority of
astrologers still think of Mercury as the planetary ruler
for this sign.
