The peas FINALLY bloomed yesterday...

They were getting to be hip high if I stood on the edge
of the raised beds and I was starting to get worried they'd
take over the place, but yesterday afternoon there were nice white
blooms.

I'm sure I'll be going nuts shortly trying to figure out where I put
the beans (Normally whatever I plant goes into a dessert dish next to the
toaster oven... But the bush beans went on the night stand after I replanted
the thin spots on them last night).

Hrm... may as well do a garden update.

The romain lettuce I had in the basement and brought outside is all bolting.
Oh well, next year I'll know to start in those jiffy 72 trays that
you fill with your own seedling media and put them outside under
a cloche.
The thinnings of the romaine that were transferred to the garden have
mostly headed up and I'm down to 8 or 9 left in the garden.
Last year's platning of spinach has bolted.
Collards bolted and chopped down.
This year's planting of spinach is really nice right now.
Radishes are being pitiful.
Turnips are being less pitiful.
Mizuna (Japanese Mustard) has started to bolt.
Bush Beans, about 60 row feet out of 80 row feet have germinated.
Peanuts, 20 row feet out of 30 row feet have germinated, and another
120 row feet have been planted. (Yes, it's excessive. Except it's
easier to get peanuts for nitrogen fixing than it is to get anything
else).
Cucumbers. 4 hills of pickling cucumbers germinated. 3 hills of
burpless cucumbers germinated. I need to find rocks and start mulching
with newspaper and start building trellises.
Lovage/Leaf Celery. The single plant is starting to be very
productive... time to increase my vitamin M intake and start making tuna
salad for lunch.
Delicata Squash, all happily established after being transplanted.
Sugar Snap Peas... blooming their little brains out.
Tomatoes. Too many.
Corn, 64 row feet planted, 32 row feet germinated (Next 32 row feet
should be up early next week).
Snow Peas... also blooming their little brains out.
Rumbo Squash, also happily established.
Taters, for an experiment in pest control.

And umpteen gazillion pecan trees as weeds from the $#@!
squirrels hiding pecans in the garden.

So, in the left to plant category,

Nasturtiums (For pest control).
Peppers
Okra.
Sweet potatoes (Another experiment in nitrogen fixing)
Asparagus (If Park Seed will ever ship it).

More corn.

Yes, it's excessive. But, I have a demand for squash and tomatoes.
The wife and kids want to do a vegetable stand this summer,
and we have a feed the poor and out of work charity that can use
the rest.

Sounds great. You plant a lot more than I do and I am busy. I have two
raised beds 5 x 35 with peppers, tomatoes, beans, lettuce onions,
squash and cucumbers. I have a green house with a 9 bucket hydroponic
system. My experiment
this year is planting watermelon and cantalope in pots on the sand
beach by the lake. I figure it's worth a shot and they can vine where
ever they want to. Then there is the rose garden with 10 roses. So
that is what keeps me busy.

I don't know how you stand 35'x5' raised beds.
24'x4' leads to enough walking around the beds because I can't
quite reach all the way across.

6 of the 24'x4' beds, 1 16x4' bed (for herbs).
3 6'x 50' in ground beds 1 8'x20' in ground bed.
