They are planted in 5-gal containers, same as last year. Last year's
crop was terrific, this year all the peppers have blossom end rot.

AFAIK, I'm doing nothing different.

Suggestions? The heat? Dryness? I've taken to watering twice a day
because once a day was making them wilt.

I've had success eliminating blossom end rot on tomatoes by using
products with names like Stop Rot, Rot Stop, etc. They are all alike
-- a calcium salt solution. Buy it at Lowe's, Home Depot, and
nurseries. A small plastic jug costs about $6 and will last for years.
Dilute according to directions (1 tablespoon per quart of water) and
spray all over the plant. Foliage, blossoms, fruit, everything.
There's no special schedule -- just spray once or twice per season.

The product label says "Use for peppers, melons, and cucumbers too" but
I have not needed it on those crops.

It's not too late! Fruit not-yet-set may benefit.
