Default Flowering artichokes

My one remaining artichoke plant finally put out three artichokes.
They are weird, not like the ones I get at the store. Instead of the
leaves being tightly bunched they are spread, like the petals of a
flower. Then yesterday one of them erupted in a thistle-like bright
blue flower.

I doubt we'll ever eat any of them, but they have been fun to watch.
