Default Pruning Redbuds

Try the National Arbor Foundation, maybe: www.arborday.org . That
might be a bit general for your purposes.

Hi,

I've just bought a very tall eastern redbud from Home Depot, and I'm
wondering if it should be pruned. I know I should wait until spring
after it flowers, but the single trunk branches into three or four limbs
at about three feet above the ground, and the whole tree is nine feet
tall, so that's five feet of upright branches. It looks very gangly, so
if anyone has any redbud pruning tips, please let me know as I have no
experience with this tree.

Thanks,

MAC
