Default Rain Barrels and Composters through Wake County Sat 16 Nov

NOTE: This news release was issued jointly by Wake County and the City of
Raleigh.

In celebration of America Recycles Day, the City of Raleigh Recycling office
and Wake County Solid Waste Management are sponsoring an educational and fun
event Saturday, Nov. 16, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Wal-Mart parking
lot, Paddington Station, 1725 New Hope Church Road.

America Recycles Day is a nationwide event designed to raise awareness of
the importance of recycling to reduce the amount of waste going into
landfills. Another important component is to teach people to close the loop
and be more mindful of the number of products made from recycled materials.
Those attending will have the opportunity to get tips from a master gardener
and a water conservation specialist. Children will have the opportunity to
meet Dottie Bottle and participate in hands-on activities.

Residents also can drop off corrugated cardboard and paperboard to be
recycled. Sixty-Five gallon rain barrels will be available for $65 and Earth
Machine compost bins for $30. Also available will be 14-gallon recycling
bins for only $2 while supplies last. Names will be drawn each hour for
prizes that are made from recycled content material.

For further tips on recycling, call the Raleigh Recycling office at 831-6522
or visit the City of Raleigh website at
www.raleigh-nc.org/sws/recyclinghome.htm. For Wake County information, call
Wake County Solid Waste Management, 856-6186 or visit the website at
www.co.wake.nc.us/solidwaste.
