Default corn gluten and livestock feed?

I have seen periodic discussions about corn gluten as a weed control
here, and some of the various products. Would love to try this
organic method, but the brands I have seen online are kinda spendy.
Has anyone tried the livestock feed variety of corn gluten, or even
cracked corn, which can be had for a lot less than a dollar a pound.
Thanks
Grace
