You did the right thing by calling ULOCO. If you have cable, you can bet
that line will be shallow. If you hit your gas line they probably did not
install it correctly or your grade has changed. You'll have to call a
private company to mark private lines like gas to light or grill or
electricity to outbuilding.

You might want to call the phone company too, if all the wires to your house are underground.

I assume if you have an Invisible Fence for your dogs, you know where that line is too (or you could find out by using the dog collar and noting where it beeps).

One thing to consider about tilling is that you may uncover weed seeds, so you should give them a chance to germinate (and be removed) before you plant grass seed.

I can offer some advice about the lawn part: after you kill the
existing lawn with glyphosphate, remove it with a sod cutter. Do not
till the dead grass, it does not (as one might think) become
organic mulch - you end up having to rake it all out and it is
the most backbreaking sort of labor.

After removing the old turf with the sod cutter then you might
want to till the soil if it is compacted.

The old turf slabs will eventually compost into good topsoil but
it take at least a year.
