I have just been given a cymbidium orchid. The lady who gave it to me has
it growing in a large tub, but it seems to be climbing up a tree. What
medium should I use to plant this, or can I tie it to a tree like I have
seen some orchids growing? I live in a non-frost area of South East
Queensland. Any specific fertilizer?

TIA

Is your Cym in a pot or is it bare rooted? If it's in a pot I would
leave it there for now as Cym are sending up flower spikes at this
time of year. Most Cym are grown in pot, and you can find cym potting
mix from most KMart. You should also be able to get cym fertiliser
from Kmart, but I wouldn't worry too much about that unless the plant
is well established.

Hope that helps.
