I've got this one phal...thing will just NOT stop flowering. This
might sound like a good thing, but the spikes don't have much 'Umph'
once the flowers pop. Flowers are usually small and not in too much
quantity.

It's just sprouting another spikelet that will make three (after 2
already !) currently on the plant. I really wanna give this thing a
break, so it can put more resources into one, large spike.

Go to Sleep !

So chop it off and let the plant rebuild its reserves.

heh. :) i've got one like that too; i should *really* cut the spikes
but it's still green and healthy and growing roots and leaves so i can't
quite bring myself to do it.

Then cut the new spike if the old spike is blooming, so that it will
grow the flowers larger and hold them longer, or just cut all the old
spikes and wait for the newest one to grow, but best of all is not to
be greedy (or be greedy depending on how you look at it) and cut them
all so that it will produce another that will be worth the wait.

It is possible for the plant to bloom itself to death. I had a larger
Phal that bloomed for 18 months, and died. Now I would cut the spikes
if the plants continued that long.
