Yup, I agree. Probably one of the hundred Colm. Wildcatt awarded plants. 5
years ago everyone was Ga Ga about them.

Kye,

*laff* nah, it's not that impressive. Not like Kathy B. the other night at
the OS meeting rattling off parents of all the floofy cattleya hybrids and
giving color commentary (in some cases, literally!) on the parents and
knowing all about the hybridizers, etc. etc.

In this case, this particular plant is/was very well represented in the "pot
plant" orchid trade here about 7 years ago, right when I got into orchids.
It was the first orchid I ever bought and the first one I ever re-bloomed.
It's a very distinctive hybrid - not easily confused with others. Finally, I
think there is only one clone of Degarmoara Flying High in circulation -
'Stars & Bars.'

Eric, we are all in awe of your knowledge on orchids - don't destroy the
mystique.

Eric,

Actually there is another one "Yellow Bird" that I got as a gift a couple of
years ago when I was in the hospital. Like most plants that are bought from
a florist the roots had rotted. I still have a piece I'm trying to bring
back to life but it's a scale magnet and when I get some growth the buggers
seem to drag it back down.

I think I lost my Stars and Bars when scale ravaged it.

It's funny how some plants just attract a specific bug while the plant next
to it is clean.

Good Growing,
Gene
